Family Fun Day
There’s an old adage that goes: families that play together, stay together. We all know that quality time with our family is paramount in building stronger relationships. Swimming, Dancing, sharing stories, and just being together makes a difference in our lives. Family time builds confidence, teaches children about interacting with others, and create wonderful memories that last a lifetime.
As part of our wellness program Women Working with Women (3W) in partnership with UHAI-Eashri hosted the second edition of family fun day that saw LBQT (Lesbian, Bisexual Queer and Transgender) parents and their children have a chance to engage in outdoor fun activities. Seeing how LBQT individuals are always marginalized and discriminated in a country where it’s illegal to be in a same sex relationship and/or parenting, the event was therefore useful for general wellness of LBQT persons because it helps reduce stress, prevent cases of depression, boost morale and maintaining overall positivity. The family fun day also provided an avenue for LBQT persons to get integrated health services like cervical cancer screening, HIV/AIDS testing and counselling from service providers; ICAP and LVCT health.
