VCAT & Unpacking Diversity and Rights-holder Friendly Service Provision

We had a session with Health Care Service providers and this was a ray of hope and a small sigh of relief in the efforts of ensuring the highest level of Comprehensive Abortal Care for LBQT persons in Kisumu County.

We not only had a Value Clarification and Attitude Transformation training but also looked at ways our healthcare providers may experience Vicarious trauma as a result of being in the frontline of Gender Based Violence Recovery Centres and how it would affect the quality of their service. We learnt ways to cope and deal with this trauma.

The biggest takeaway for most of our participants was:

“Your Values should not affect your service.”

In this LGBTQ+ History month as we look under the scope we are proud to say that our healthcare future is indeed looking brighter.
